Rangers middle infield prospect Jurickson Profar has been making steady progress from his February shoulder surgery, even playing in some minor league rehab games with Double-A Frisco over the past week, but he is not going to appear in a game at the major league level in 2015.

Jeff Wilson of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram says Profar has been pulled off his rehab assignment and will finish out the year at the Rangers’ spring training complex in Arizona. He could play in some instructional league games and the 22-year-old might be able to join an Arizona Fall League roster if everything continues to go smoothly.

Profar was the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball prior to the 2013 season, but he batted just .234/.308/.336 in 85 games that season for Texas and didn’t make an appearance at any level in 2014 after suffering his first major shoulder injury in spring training.

The future is cloudy for Profar, but he should be 100 percent heading into 2016.
