The Mets announced this afternoon that they have acquired infielder/outfielder Eric Young, Jr. from the Braves for cash considerations. He’ll join the team’s Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas.

Of course, Young previously played with the Mets from 2013-2014 while batting .242/.310/.321 with 68 stolen bases over 191 games. The 30-year-old began this season on the Braves’ major league roster, but he batted just .169 (13-for-77) over 35 games prior to being designated for assignment. He has been playing with Triple-A Gwinnett since while putting up a .248/.349/.312 batting line over 67 games.

The Mets are pretty light on speed, so there’s a chance that Young could serve as a bench player and pinch-runner when rosters expand in September.
