Things got ugly at the end of Omar Minaya’s tenure as the Mets’ general manager, but he’s still well-respected around the league and could be employed again as a front office executive before the start of the 2011 season.
According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, Minaya has received “multiple” job offers in the last few weeks. And these are not mail room gigs.
Minaya is guaranteed an annual salary of $1.1 million in 2011 and 2012 as part of his leftover contract with the Mets and can take his time finding the best possible landing spot. He’s been courted so far by the Diamondbacks, who want to make him a special front office assistant, and Rojas says that he has a meeting scheduled with new Mets GM Sandy Alderson to see “how he could fit” with the reworked regime.
