Last week the Angels designated outfielder/first baseman Efren Navarro for assignment and now they’ve traded him to the Orioles for cash considerations.

Navarro never hit much in four limited stints with the Angels, batting a combined .246 with one homer and a .627 OPS in 280 plate appearances through age 29. However, he’s hit .316 in five seasons at Triple-A while posting an .826 OPS.

He lacks power, but controls the strike zone pretty well and has consistently put up big batting averages in the minors. Navarro could be a fit in Baltimore as a left-handed hitter used primarily versus right-handed pitching.
