Padres prospect Michael Dimock suspended for drugs

San Diego Padres Logo

Padres minor leaguer Michael Dimock, a relief pitcher scheduled to participate in the Arizona Fall League, has been suspended 50 games following a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Dimock was drafted by the Astros in 2012 and then traded to the Padres in the middle of last season. He split this year between Double-A and Triple-A, throwing a total of 60 innings with a 2.10 ERA and spectacular 70/6 K/BB ratio.

Based on his strong performance and AFL assignment Dimock figured to be in the Padres’ bullpen plans for 2016, but now he’ll have to sit out the first two months of the season in the minors.
