The Charlotte Knights, the White Sox Triple-A affilliate, announced on Monday that pitcher Phillippe Aumont has retired from baseball.

Aumont, 27, was sent to the Phillies from the Mariners as part of the Cliff Lee trade back in 2010. He battled command issues at both the minor and major league level. Ultimately, the Phillies designated him for assignment last June. The Blue Jays picked him up but he continued to struggle with Triple-A Buffalo.

This season, at Charlotte, Aumont surrendered 15 earned runs on 18 hits and 11 walks with 14 strikeouts in 11 innings. His final appearance was against his former team, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Aumont did not record an out and gave up five runs on four hits (including a home run) and a walk.
