Left-hander Kyle Lobstein, who was designated for assignment by the Tigers last week, has been traded to the Pirates for cash considerations.
Detroit not even getting a player to be named later or cash considerations means it’s basically a giveaway deal, although Lobstein has a chance to crack Pittsburgh’s roster in a bullpen role.
There isn’t much upside to be had, however. He’s a soft-tosser with a 5.33 ERA and just 59 strikeouts in 103 innings as a big leaguer and the 26-year-old former second-round draft pick also has a mediocre 3.83 ERA in the minors.
