The Pirates have claimed infielder Jake Elmore off waivers from the Reds, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.

Elmore, 27, spent the first four months of the season with the Athletics at Triple-A Sacramento, where he batted .282/.374/.365. The Reds claimed him off waivers in early August and stashed him at Triple-A Louisville for about a month. He hit .279/.379/.302 before being promoted to the majors in September. With the Reds at the major league level, he singled twice and walked once in 12 plate appearances.

Elmore primarily plays middle infield, but has some limited experience at third base and in the outfield as well.
