Moreland missed exactly 15 days following surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow. He was batting .304/.393/.457 in 16 games before landing on the disabled list despite playing through discomfort that those loose bodies were causing. Moreland will resume serving as the Rangers’ primary designated hitter.
Rangers have activated 1B Mitch Moreland from the 15 day DL and optioned Jake Smolinski to Round Rock.

Smolinski was able to crack the Opening Day roster with a big spring, but the 26-year-old outfielder wound up batting just .140/.290/.220 in 62 regular-season plate appearances. He’ll probably get another shot soon.
