Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports that the Rockies have signed utility infielder Omar Quintanilla and reliever Rafael Betancourt. MLB.com’s Thomas Harding confirms that both are minor league deals.

Betancourt, 39, wasn’t healthy enough to pitch until July after undergoing Tommy John surgery during the previous September. He made a handful of appearances for Grand Junction in the Rookie League and another handful for Triple-A Colorado Springs. Prior to his injury in 2013, Betancourt had a 4.03 ERA with a 27/11 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings.

Quintanilla, 33, spent the first five seasons of his major league career with the Rockies but the last two with the Mets. He has a career .582 OPS but can play shortstop and second base, as well as third base so he’ll hope to provide the Rockies some versatility.
