Susan Slusser of the Chronicle reports that the A’s have called up Sonny Gray from Sacramento and have inserted him in the five-spot of their rotation. He will make his major league starting debut tomorrow.

Gray, the 18th overall selection in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft, had a cup of coffee with the A’s last month when he made two relief appearances and amassed a grand total of four innings. He has a 3.42 ERA and a 118/39 K/BB ratio over 118 1/3 Triple-A innings.
