The son of Torii Hunter -- Torii Hunter, Jr. -- was a star football and baseball player in high school. When he was getting ready to graduate there was a lot of speculation as to which sport he would choose. He chose football and accepted a scholarship to Notre Dame. He became a team captain, eventually, and caught 73 passes, six for touchdowns, in 26 games.

Flash forward a few years and Hunter has decided that he’d rather play baseball. He is bypassing his final year of football eligibility to go play in the Angels system. They drafted him in the 23rd round this past June. His father, of course, starred for the Angels from 2008 through 2012.

Hunter hasn’t played a full season of baseball since he was a high school junior in 2012, so he may have a pretty steep hill to climb. But it’s a hill he wants to climb, so good luck to him.
