Twins vs. Guardians prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets for July 23

The finale of the four-game AL Central series between the Cleveland Guardians (54-49) and the Minnesota Twins (50-53) takes place this afternoon.

Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak Wednesday with a 10-6 victory over Cleveland in a game that spoiled the return of Guardians superstar José Ramírez. Playing for the first time since June 13 following hand surgery. Ramírez made an immediate impact, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, but the Twins’ offense proved too much. The Twins jumped ahead when Trevor Larnach led off the game with a home run, but Cleveland answered with three early runs and looked well on their way to a third straight win over the Twins. The turning point came in the fourth inning, though. After an RBI infield single by catcher Alex Jackson, Brooks Lee crushed a three-run homer, turning a tie game into a 7-3 Minnesota advantage. Lee finished with four RBIs. Cleveland starter Slade Cecconi allowed seven hits and seven runs over 4.2 innings but just three earned runs. Three errors by the Guardians led to a total of six unearned runs on the night for the Twins.

Taj Bradley (9-4, 3.85 ERA) has been better than anticipated for Minnesota this season. He takes the mound for the Twins this afternoon. Bradley has held opposing hitters to a paltry .225 batting average and struck out 124 in 107.2 innings…and he has offered innings consistently pitching at least five innings in seven consecutive starts. That said, he was less than stellar in his last start. On July 18 against the Cubs, Bradley endured one of his rougher outings of the season. He surrendered five earned runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out six while walking three in a 6-2 Twins loss. Eleven days prior to that debacle, Bradley faced the Guardians. He dominated Cleveland allowing just one run over seven innings while striking out 10.

Gavin Williams (10-5, 4.00 ERA) takes the ball for the Guardians today. Williams continues to be one of Cleveland’s most electric arms, piling up 145 strikeouts in 119.1 innings. He has recorded seven quality starts this season. Like Bradley, though, Williams is looking to rebound today after a rough outing. Williams took the loss against Pittsburgh on July 18, allowing five earned runs over six innings while giving up seven hits. Just as the Guardians struggled against Bradley earlier this month, so did the Twins at the plate against Williams. On July 9, Williams dominated Minnesota striking out 11 Minnesota batters in a 5-2 victory.

It is a getaway day for these clubs which adds to the look that this game has all the ingredients for the UNDER to cash for the Game Total through five innings and possibly the full game.
