The Triple-A affiliates of the Twins and Yankees, the Rochester Red Wings and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders respectively, met up on Friday to play the second game of a four-game set. Right-hander Lester Oliveros started for the Red Wings and got into immediate trouble in the first inning.

Oliveros allowed back-to-back singles to lead off the bottom of the first, then gave up a three-run home run to Rob Refsnyder. Kyle Roller made it back-to-back homers with a solo home run, boosting the RailRiders’ lead to 4-0 with no outs. Oliveros, obviously frustrated, threw a fastball right at Austin Romine’s head with his very next pitch. Romine dropped to the ground, and then both benches emptied. Oliveros was immediately ejected.

Parker Hageman of Twins Daily posted video of the incident:

Romine underwent testing after the game, which the Red Wings won 13-3, but there haven’t been any updates on his condition as of yet. Oliveros should be handed a suspension as a result of Friday’s incident. We’ll provide updates when more information is known.
