Wei-Yin Chen upset about demotion to High-A Frederick

Orioles southpaw Wei-Yin Chen threw eight innings of shutout ball Monday night against the Phillies, dropping his season ERA to 2.89. But the O’s optioned Chen to High-A Frederick on Tuesday afternoon, citing general fatigue, because they wanted to avoid pitching him this weekend against the Blue Jays, who have been mashing at historic rates against left-handed pitching. Chen isn’t taking this demotion lightly and went on his personal Twitter account Tuesday evening to publicly express his frustration. We’ve screenshotted the tweets in case he decides (or is asked) to delete them ...

Chen pitched close to 200 innings last year between the regular season and the playoffs, so there’s no real reason for the O’s to be limiting his workload. It’s easy to understand why the native of Taiwan is upset.
