Enright

Enright had Tommy John surgery in October, so he’s out for 2026. He also had to overcome Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier in his career, but he pitched quite well in his major league debut last season, posting a 2.03 ERA and a 30/12 K/BB in 31 innings. He’ll be 30 when he returns in 2027, but he might yet turn out to be a quality reliever for a few years.

All three players now free agents. Brennan underwent surgery to repair the UCL in his left elbow back in May, but should be ready to go early in the 2026 season. Both Hentges and Enright will likely see non-roster interest to help needy bullpens.

Cleveland’s decision to move on from Enright qualifies as a surprising one since he posted a strong 2.03 ERA and 30/12 K/BB ratio across 31 innings over 27 appearances last season in his first taste of the majors. The 28-year-old reliever, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, figures to draw some interest on waivers in the coming days.

Enright debuted in the majors in May, which was two years and three months after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and had a 2.03 ERA in 31 innings out of the Guardians pen. He figures to miss the entire 2026 season.

No word yet on the severity of the injury or how long Enright will be shelved for. It’s a big blow to the Guardians’ bullpen as Enright has been outstanding this season — posting a 2.03 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio across his 31 innings of work. Zak Kent was recalled from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move to take his place in the Guardians’ bullpen.

Enright takes the roster spot of Paul Sewald after Sewald was placed on the injured list prior to the All-Star break. Enright will give the Guardians a middle-inning option while he’s with the club.

Enright adds some bullpen depth for the twin-billing. The Guardians will either then send the right-hander back to Triple-A, or need to him to the active roster.

Enright has pitched on back-to-back nights, throwing 2 1/3 shutout innings while allowing no hits, striking out three, and walking two. The Guardians needed a fresh arm in the bullpen, so Enright was sent down to make room.

Enright rejoins Cleveland’s bullpen mix ahead of Saturday’s game against the Angels with Andrew Walters hitting the injured list with a lat strain. The 28-year-old righty has made a pair of relief appearances this season in the majors.

Enright threw three innings in relief this week, so the Guardians will send him down to the minors to get a fresh arm for the bullpen. The 28-year-old made an inspiring comeback from Hodgkin’s lymphoma and will likely get another chance in the Cleveland bullpen this summer.
