Mets reassigned RHPs Adbert Alzolay, RHP Nick Burdi, and RHP Daniel Duarte, and INFs Christian Arroyo and Jose Rojas to minor league camp.
Alzolay missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery and pitched just two innings this year. Nick Burdi has also battled injuries for much ofhis career, and Christian Arroyo has not had MLB at-bats since 2023.

Mets signed RHP Nick Burdi to a minor league contract.
They call him Big-Market Burdi, since he’s gone from the Cubs to the Yankees to the Red Sox and now the Mets since 2023. Well, they should call him that anyway. Burdi pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings for Boston last season and had a 2.83 ERA and a 45/16 K/BB in 35 innings in Triple-A. He’s always had trouble staying healthy, but he’d be a decent enough fifth or sixth right-hander in the pen when he’s right.

Nick Burdi, who spent most of the season pitching for Boston’s Triple-A affiliate, elected free agency.
Burdi pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the Red Sox and had a 2.83 ERA in 35 innings for Worcester this season.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox sent RHP Nick Burdi outright to Triple-A Worcester.
Burdi cleared waivers after being DFA’d on Monday. He could reject the assignment and become a free agent or take his chances on getting called back up to Boston next month.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox designated RHP Nick Burdi for assignment.
Burdi had been pitching for Triple-A Worcester since returning from a foot contusion that had him on the 60-day injured list. He threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the Red Sox earlier this season.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox activated RHP Nick Burdi from the 60-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Worcester.
Burdi will remain at Triple-A Worcester as emergency organizational relief depth. The 32-year-old middle reliever tossed 5 1/3 scoreless frames over four appearances before hitting the shelf back in early June with a right foot contusion.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox transferred RHP Nick Burdi from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Burdi is now off the 40-man roster, and the Red Sox needed that room to clear a spot for Masataka Yoshida’s return from a shoulder injury. Burdi is eligible to come off the injured list from his foot bruise on August 3.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Nick Burdi (foot) started a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Friday.
The 32-year-old hurler has been shelved since the beginning of June due to a right foot contusion that he suffered while covering first base during a game against the Angels. Since he hasn’t had a long layoff, he should only require a couple of tune-ups at the Triple-A level before he’s ready to return to the Red Sox’ bullpen.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox placed RHP Nick Burdi on the 15-day injured list with a right foot contusion.
Burdi suffered the injury while covering first base during Monday’s showdown against the Angels and is going to miss a couple weeks. The 32-year-old middle reliever has tossed 5 1/3 scoreless frames over four appearances this season for the Red Sox.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox recalled RHP Nick Burdi from Triple-A Worcester.
Burdi is up to replace Liam Hendriks (hip) on the active roster. The 32-year-old will be a low-leverage option in his time with the Red Sox.
