Mets signed INF Niko Goodrum to a minor league contract.
Goodrum opted out of his minor league deal with the Padres at the end of the Cactus League. The 33-year-old will need to be added to the 40-man roster to play for the Mets in 2025. There’s a pretty good chance that doesn’t happen.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #28
Mets signed 1B Jon Singleton to a minor league contract.
The Mets also signed Niko Goodrum to a minor league deal Wednesday, so Triple-A Syracuse gets a glow up. Singleton was released by the Astros before the start of the season, and isn’t likely to be a player that gets much playing time with the Mets unless Pete Alonso was to miss time. Even still there’s no guarantee.
  • SD Left Fielder #26
Padres reassigned OF Forrest Wall and INF Niko Goodrum to minor league camp.
Neither Wall or Goodrum had a real shot at making San Diego’s season-opening roster, but they’re experienced emergency depth options at the Triple-A level.
  • SD 2nd Baseman #28
Padres signed Niko Goodrum to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Goodrum played in just 13 games in 2024 at the highest level, and he slashed an awful .103/.188/.103 in his 33 plate appearances. He does offer the ability to play all over the infield and the corner outfield spots, so a good showing in the Cactus League gives him a chance of making San Diego out of spring training.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #28
Orioles signed INF Niko Goodrum to a minor league contract.
Goodrum elected free agency last week after he was designated for assignment by the Pirates. The versatile 32-year-old will add extra infield depth for the O’s at Triple-A Norfolk.
  • FA 1st Baseman #28
Pirates 1B Niko Goodrum elected free agency.
Goodrum will test the free agent waters after passing through waivers unclaimed following his removal last week from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster. The 32-year-old journeyman didn’t appear in a game for the Pirates, but has gotten into 13 contests this season split between the Rays and Angels.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #28
Pirates designated INF Niko Goodrum for assignment.
Less than a week after being claimed off of waivers from the Angels, Goodrum finds himself off the 40-man roster once more so that the Pirates had a roster spot available for Josh Fleming on Friday. The versatile 32-year-old makes for a nice utility option and will probably attract interest on waivers once again this time around.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #28
Pirates claimed INF/OF Niko Goodrum off waivers from the Angels and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.
It wasn’t announced, but the Angels obviously tried removing Goodrum from the 40-man in recent days, allowing the Pirates to pick him up and stash him. The 32-year-old Goodrum played in four games for the Angels in May, going 0-for-13. He also served a stint with the Rays this season, and he’s 3-for-29 overall.
  • LAA 2nd Baseman #28
Angels optioned INF/OF Niko Goodrum to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Goodrum played in four games for the Angels, going 0-for-13 with four strikeouts and two walks. With Luis Rengifo coming off the IL, Goodrum will head to the minors to provide the organization with valuable positional depth.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Angels activated INF/OF Luis Rengifo from the 10-day injured list.
The Angels tried to keep Rengifo on the active roster, but after he missed five games, they decided to put him on the injured list last Thursday. A week later, he’s returning to the fold and should likely remain an everyday player for the Angels given how banged up their lineup is. Niko Goodrum was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
