Rangers signed C Omar Narváez to a minor league contract.
Narváez latches on with the Rangers as emergency organizational catching depth after being released earlier this month from his minor league deal with the Astros. The 33-year-old veteran backstop got into four games earlier this season with the White Sox. He’s appeared in 681 big-league contests dating back to 2016.

Astros signed C Omar Nárvaez to a minor league contract.
The 33-year-old backstop hit the open market after he was released by the White Sox in mid-May. He appeared in four games at the big league level with the pale hose this season, going 2-for-7 (.286) with three RBI and a 1/2 K/BB ratio. He’s nothing more than additional catching depth for the Astros at this stage.

White Sox re-signed C Omar Nárvaez to a minor league contract.
Narváez winds up back with the White Sox as emergency catching depth just a couple days after electing free agency. The 33-year-old veteran got into four games for Chicago before the club decided to bring up top catching prospect Edgar Quero from Triple-A Charlotte.

Omar Narváez has elected free agency.
Narváez was removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster last week following the arrival of catching prospect Edgar Quero. The 33-year-old journeyman will test the open market after passing through waivers unclaimed. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him re-sign with the White Sox in the coming days as extra depth at Triple-A Charlotte.

White Sox designated C Omar Narváez for assignment.
The White Sox needed to make an opening on the 40-man roster for catching prospect Edgar Quero, so Narváez is the guy to go. He went 2-for-7 with two walks and one strikeout in 10 plate appearances for the White Sox in four games.

White Sox selected the contract of C Omar Narváez from Triple-A Charlotte.
With Korey Lee (ankle) landing on the IL, it will be Narváez and not Edgar Quero coming up to Chicago. Quero is off to a great start in Triple-A, slashing .371/.500/.486 with one home run, eight runs scored, and two RBI in 10 games. However, they don’t seem ready to turn the page on Matt Thaiss as their everyday catcher, which means they’ll keep Quero playing every day at Triple-A. For now.

White Sox placed C Korey Lee on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain.
Lee has been serving as the backup to Matt Thaiss. He’s gone just 5-for-15 with three runs and one RBI on the season. The White Sox have called up Omar Narvaez to take his place on the active roster.

Korey Lee was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Guardians with left ankle soreness.
Lee seems like a near lock to require a trip to the injured list after suffering what appeared to be a painful left ankle injury while attempting to get back to the first-base bag during the sixth inning. Baseball America’s James Fegan reports that it’s veteran Omar Narváez, not top catching prospects Kyle Teel or Edgar Quero, being called up to replace him. It’ll be Matt Thaiss handling the bulk of the catching duties in his absence.

White Sox released C Omar Narváez.
It’ll be Korey Lee and Matt Thaiss opening the year as Chicago’s primary catchers. Narváez was in White Sox camp as a non-roster invitee. The 33-year-old journeyman receiver shouldn’t have trouble latching on somewhere else as emergency depth.
  • CWS Catcher #2
White Sox signed C Omar Narváez to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
The White Sox’ plan at the catcher position appears to be throw as much as you can at a wall and hope that something sticks. They have a couple of very intriguing prospects in Edgar Quero and Kyle Teel that fantasy managers would love to see, but they also have Korey Lee, Matt Thaiss and now Narváez hanging around to muddy up the waters. Eventually, something has to give.
