Diamondbacks optioned LHP Philip Abner to Triple-A Reno
Abner threw 2 1/3 innings on Thursday, allowing two runs on one hit. The Diamondbacks will get a fresh arm up in the bullpen, but the 23-year-old should get another chance later this season.

Diamondbacks recalled LHP Philip Abner from Triple-A Reno.
Abner returns to the big leagues for the first time since posting a pedestrian 4.91 ERA across 3 2/3 innings for Arizona last year. The 23-year-old southpaw will operate in middle relief situations for the Diamondbacks.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Phillip Abner to Triple-A Reno; reassigned C Aramis Garcia and INF Jacob Amaya to minor league camp.
Abner is one of the D-backs best relief pitching prospects — yes, that technically is a thing — but won’t make the Opening Day roster. Garcia and Amaya were both signed as non-roster invites but will either test free agency or report to Reno as well.

Diamondbacks selected the contract of LHP Philip Abner from Triple-A Reno.
The 23-year-old Abner will be making his major league debut after posting a 3.07 ERA and a 70/16 K/BB in 58 2/3 innings over 53 appearances at three levels. He has a quality slider, but that he throws just 89-92 mph might prove to be a problem for him in the majors.
