Reed Trimble left Friday’s game for Triple-A Norfolk because of right hamstring discomfort.
The switch-hitting Trimble is probably day-to-day. He’s the Orioles’ lone minor league position player who is on the 40-man roster, which will help his chances of seeing time in the majors this year.
  • BAL Left Fielder #62
Orioles optioned OF Reed Trimble to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 25-year-old outfielder was never a candidate to crack the team’s Opening Day roster, so this move doesn’t come as a surprise. He’ll open up the season as additional outfield depth for the O’s at the Triple-A level.

Orioles selected the contract of RHP Cameron Foster and OF Reed Trimble from Triple-A Norfolk.
Foster came over from the Mets at the trade deadline and gets a spot on Baltimore’s 40-man roster to protect him from next month’s Rule 5 Draft. Trimble was the club’s second-round selection from the 2021 MLB Draft.
  • BAL Left Fielder #62
Orioles prospect outfielder Reed Trimble underwent a left (non-throwing) shoulder labral repair last week.
Trimble, a third-round pick in this year’s draft, is expected to miss 6-9 months. This puts him at risk for missing a good chunk of the 2022 season. The 21-year-old hit .200/.309/.225 over 94 plate appearances during his first taste of pro ball in 2021.
