Ryan Casteel slugged a go-ahead grand slam as the split-squad Mariners defeated the split-squad Diamondbacks 9-5 on Friday.
The Mariners trailed 5-2 going into the ninth, but that quickly changed after Yuhei Nakaushiro walked the bases loaded and Casteel took him deep. The Mariners ended up plating seven runs in the frame. Casteel, 25, split last season between Double-A and Triple-A while batting just .237/.292/.359 with six homers over 93 games. While he played hero on Friday, he’s not on the prospect radar.
