Phillies signed vice president and general manager Sam Fuld to a contract extension through 2025.
It’s a well-deserved deal for Fuld, who has helped Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski engineer a rapid turnaround in just a few seasons. Assistant general managers Ned Rice and Jorge Velandia have also been extended through the 2025 season.

Phillies hired Sam Fuld as general manager.
This makes official what was reported on Tuesday afternoon. Fuld will move from the role of major league player information coordinator and serve under new president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. He’ll bring an analytical touch to the team’s decision-making process. Also part of Tuesday’s announcement, the Phillies will promote Jorge Velandia to assistant general manager and longtime baseball executive Terry Ryan to special assistant to the general manager.

Desmond Jennings is not in the Rays’ starting lineup Wednesday night against the Orioles.
Jennings has struggled a bit lately, so he might just be getting a breather. Still, we would rather have him leading off than Sam Fuld, especially with every game so crucial in the standings right now.

Sam Fuld went 2-for-3 with a walk against the Phillies on Thursday.
Brandon Guyer is off to a very rough start, so there seems little doubt that Fuld will retain his spot on Tampa Bay’s bench. He’s 3-for-10 with three walks since returning from a wrist injury.

Rays placed OF Sam Fuld on the 15-day disabled list with a right wrist injury.
Fuld underwent surgery on his right wrist Tuesday and might be out for the entire 2012 season. The 30-year-old batted .240/.313/.360 in 346 plate appearances last year.

Sam Fuld is scheduled to undergo right wrist surgery Tuesday and will miss the next 4-5 months.
Fuld aggravated the wrist in mid-March during a swing in a Grapefruit League game. He got two different opinions from two different doctors before deciding to go under the knife. The 30-year-old outfielder could struggle to make it back to the major league level this season.

Sam Fuld underwent successful surgery on his right wrist on Tuesday.
Fuld is expected to miss the next 4-5 months, which means he is at risk for missing the rest of the season. Jeff Salazar, a non-roster invitee, appears to be the likely choice to take his spot on the roster.

Sam Fuld left Friday’s game against the Blue Jays with an apparent injury.
Fuld appeared to injure himself on a swing while striking out in the bottom of the third inning. He went 0-for-1 with a walk before leaving the game. Stay tuned for an update on his status.

Sam Fuld left Friday’s game after aggravating his right wrist on a swing.
Bad news, as that’s the same wrist Fuld injured last September and slowed him in the early days of camp. We sure learn more about the severity of the injury after the game, but a serious setback could force him on the disabled list to begin the year.

Sam Flud (wrist) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.
Fuld left Friday’s game after aggravating his right wrist on a swing. While he said that it’s not as painful as his injury last year, he admitted that it could “possibly” impact his availability for Opening Day. Brandon Guyer and Jesus Feliciano are among the possible alternatives for a reserve outfielder.
