Braves pitching prospect Steve Janas pitched well in his return from the disabled list, scattering three hits over five scoreless frames Saturday in a win for High-A Carolina.
Janas was injured in a bus accident with his teammates six weeks ago. The right-hander threw 43 of his 66 pitches for strikes, walking two with six groundouts and the same number of fly-outs. Janas has walked just four hitters in 37 innings this year. He’s gone 5-0 in that span with a 0.49 ERA.

Braves pitching prospect Steve Janas lost his perfect game in the seventh inning Tuesday in a win for High-A Carolina.
Clint Frazier broke up the perfect game with a single to right. Janas retired the next two hitters to preserve the one-hitter. The 23-year-old has only allowed two runs all season and now owns an impressive 19-to-2 strikeout to walk ratio. With opponents hitting just .165 against him this year, it’s clear Janas has outgrown High-A. Expect a promotion for Janas in the near future.
