White did ground into a double play and was caught stealing after one of his singles, so it wasn’t a perfect night. Still, four hits in your third big-league game is impressive. The 23-year-old is 5-for-11 overall, and he’s yet to strike out. He’ll definitely be in the lineup Tuesday with the A’s facing a left-hander for a third straight game.

As previously reported, the 23-year-old slugger will join the Athletics for Friday’s second half opener against the Nationals. He’s expected to see action at first base while Nick Kurtz is shelved before making the move over to the hot corner. White had been slashing .303/.345/.489 with nine homers and 47 RBI in 252 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas.

This suggests the A’s aren’t expecting Nick Kurtz back in the near future. White, 23, was the Athletics’ second round pick in 2024. The corner infielder was hitting .303/.345/.489 in 55 games since moving up to Triple-A Las Vegas, but while that sounds pretty good, it’s just average considering the environment. For instance, Joey Meneses and Brian Serven, both of whom were sent down by the A’s today, had about 100 points of OPS on him. Henry Bolte’s OPS before his callup was 1.076. White will likely play mostly first for now. Once Kurtz is back, he could move to third, depending on how he’s performing. He’s probably not going to amass mixed-league value initially.

White is the Athletics’ 9th-ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. The 40th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft was slashing .301/.372/.398 in 21 games at Double-A with one home run, 17 RBI, and one steal. He’s a high-contact rate hitter who has not produced elite power in the minor league, but did hit 48 home runs over two years at LSU en route to signing for $3 million after being drafted in the second round. That power should show up eventually.

De Vries put together an extremely impressive showing in Cactus League play, hitting .409 (18-for-44) with three homers and 11 RBI in 17 contests. The switch-hitting 19-year-old prodigy was the centerpiece of the Mason Miller blockbuster at the trade deadline last July and will open the minor league season at Double-A Midland. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if he reached the big leagues as a teenager in the second half. He’s one of the top 10 prospects in the entire fantasy landscape entering 2026.

The 23-year-old infielder started a rally with a two-out single off of Kyle Harrison in the second inning and scored the game’s first run on Michael Stefanic’s RBI triple. White then delivered a bases-clearing double in the third inning that made it a 6-0 ballgame. He capped off the rout with a 395-foot (97.5 mph EV) grand slam off of Mark Manfredi in the ninth that put the game way out of reach. He’s having an outstanding spring, hitting .464 (13-for-28) with four homers and 13 RBI.

White is 8-for-16 with three homers and just one strikeout. Much of his prospect stock hinges on whether he can stay at third base. Most seem skeptical, but the A’s need him to stay there with Nick Kurtz and Brent Rooker entrenched at first base and DH, respectively.

McGonigle has been sizzling-hot in the desert recently, batting .462 (6-for-13) with three homers and seven RBI over his last three games. The 21-year-old prodigy is batting .385/.494/.754 with five round-trippers and three steals across 17 games this fall. He’ll enter next season as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape and should reach Detroit at some point soon. White snapped out of an 0-for-17 slump at the dish with his first multi-homer performance of his professional career. The exit velocities on the two blasts were 104.0 and 104.8 mph, respectively. The 22-year-old infielder was a second-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft following a strong collegiate career at LSU and batted .275/.334/.439 with 12 homers and three steals in 93 games between High-A Lansing and Double-A Midland this past season.

White got to take part in the Futures Game this year, but the 2024 second-round pick had a somewhat disappointing 2025 season in hitting .275/.334/.439 between High-A and Double-A. He’s going to have a difficult time lasting at third base, and the A’s don’t exactly need help at first or DH at the moment, so he’s going to need to put up big numbers in order to force his way into the picture.
