Trey Supak pitched well during Monday’s Cactus League victory over the Padres, allowing just one hit over 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
The 29-year-old hurler didn’t walk a batter or record a strikeout in the ballgame. The only hit that he allowed in the contest came on a leadoff double by Luis Campusano to open the third inning. Supak did not get a single swing and miss in 40 pitches on the day, registering a miserable CSW of only 20 percent. Supak has already been optioned out of big league camp and is expected to open the season in the rotation at Triple-A Round Rock.

Rangers optioned RHPs Leandro Lopez and David Davalillo to Double-A Frisco; Reassigned RHPs Ryan Lobus, Eric Loomis, Patrick Murphy, and Trey Supak, LHP Robby Ahlstrom, INF Andrew Velazquez, OF Aaron Zavala, and C Cooper Johnson to minor league camp.
It’s the first large round of cuts that we have seen from the Rangers this spring but certainly won’t be the last. Nothing surprising to see here as none of the 10 players were serious candidates to crack the Opening Day roster.

Rangers re-signed RHP Trey Supak to a minor league contract.
Supak was a second-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft and has yet to reach the big leagues. The 29-year-old hurler posted a solid 3.85 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 131/33 K/BB ratio over 128 1/3 innings over 26 starts between Double-A Friso and Triple-A Round Rock this past season. He’s merely organizational fodder at this stage of his career.

He’s merely extra organizational depth at this stage of his career.

  • TEX Starting Pitcher #63
Brewers sent RHP Trey Supak outright to their alternate training site.
It’s a bit surprising that Supak didn’t get claimed off waivers by another team after Milwaukee designated him for assignment on Monday. The 24-year-old right-hander was named the Double-A Southern League’s Most Outstanding Pitcher in 2019. He’ll remain a member of the Brewers organization leading into 2021.

Brewers designated RHP Trey Supak for assignment.
The Brewers are shuffling their roster with Billy McKinney claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays and Ray Black coming off the 45-day injured list. Still, it’s surprising to see Supak get the boot. The 24-year-old struggled during his time in Triple-A last year, but he put up a 2.20 ERA and 91/23 K/BB ratio over 122 2/3 innings in Double-A. There’s a decent chance someone will take a shot on him.
