Athletics signed RHP Tyler Sturdevant to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 30-year-old was outrighted off of the Rays 40-man roster in September. Sturdevant did a decent job in 16 appearances for the Rays in 2016, posting a 3.93 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 14/6 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings. With a strong spring, he could compete for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
