    Giants released OF Vaun Brown.
Brown, a 10th-round pick in 2021, had a fantastic debut that summer and in hitting .346/.437/.623 with 23 homers and 44 steals in A-ball in 2022, but he never has managed to conquer Double-A since. He was hitting .247/.347/.282 in 32 games there this season.

Giants optioned OF Heliot Ramos to Triple-A Sacramento; reassigned INF Armando Alvarez, OF Vaun Brown, OF Clint Coulter, RHP Nick Duron, INF Tyler Fitzgerald, C Ricardo Genovés, RHP Trevor Hildenberger and LHP Erik Miller to minor league camp.
It’d be nice to see Hildenberger reemerge as a useful reliever, but no one here is particularly likely to make much of an impact in San Francisco this season. Ramos made his major league debut last April, but he’s not yet ready for the majors after hitting .227/.305/.349 in 108 games Triple-A last season.

Vaun Brown is dealing with left patellar tendinitis.
Brown was scratched from a spring training contest earlier this week due to left knee soreness, but it doesn’t sound like a serious concern. The 24-year-old outfield prospect underwent a cleanup procedure on his left knee during the offseason.

Vaun Brown was scratched from the Giants’ lineup for Tuesday’s Cactus League game due to knee soreness.
Brown is in Giants’ camp as a non-roster invitee, batting for a spot on their Opening Day roster. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Vaun Brown went 1-for-2 with a solo home run on Friday, helping to power a split-squad Giants team to a 3-2 victory over the Rockies in Cactus League action.
The 24-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in this one, putting a charge into a Peter Lambert offering in the opening inning to give the Rockies an early advantage. Brown then went down on a swinging third strike against Ty Blach in the third inning. With the injury to Luis Gonzalez, there’s an outside chance that Brown could crack the Opening Day roster in a reserve role if he continues to hit down in Arizona.

Vaun Brown was among the players to receive non-roster invitations to major league spring training from the Giants on Monday.
The 24-year-old outfielder was a 10th round selection from the 2021 draft class. He definitely opened some eyes during his first full season in the minor leagues -- slashing a robust .346/.437/.623 with 23 homers, 75 RBI and 44 stolen bases in just 103 games between Single-A San Jose and High-A Eugene. He should begin the 2023 campaign at Double-A Richmond and if he continues to put up numbers like that he’ll get a shot in the big leagues before the year is through.
