Willie Joe Garry Jr. delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth as the Twins and Phillies played to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday.
Garry, 23, has experienced major difficulties hitting for average in his pro career, but he did have the best run of his life after moving up Double-A last year, coming in at .264/.313/.500 with nine steals in 34 games. That he’s left-handed, has good speed and can play center gives him some hope of turning into a bench player down the line.
