Pirates signed RHP Yunior Marte to a minor league contract.
It didn’t take Marte long to find a new opportunity after electing free agency last week. The 31-year-old reliever was removed from Cincinnati’s roster following one appearance. He’ll function as organizational depth for Pittsburgh at Triple-A Indianapolis.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #43
Reds RHP Yunior Marte elected free agency.
Marte was jettisoned by Cincinnati earlier this week following just one appearance where he allowed four runs and recorded only one out. The 31-year-old journeyman reliever holds an underwhelming 5.94 ERA across 113 2/3 innings at the big-league level since 2022.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #43
Reds designated RHP Yunior Marte for assignment.
Marte, who was added to the roster on Friday, gave up four runs over one-third of an inning in his one appearance for Cincinnati. He has a career 5.94 ERA in 113 2/3 innings out of the pen since debuting with the Giants in 2022.

Reds selected the contract of RHP Yunior Marte from Triple-A Louisville.
Marte has a 5.12 ERA in 20 appearances with the Bats, striking out 26 in 19 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old hasn’t pitched in the bigs since 2024 after spending 2025 with NPB’s Chunichi Dragons. With a career 5.64 ERA, we would be surprised if Marte did more than low leverage work with the Reds.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #43
Reds signed RHP Yunior Marte to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Marte spent the 2025 season with the Chunichi Dragons in Japan. The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2024 while with the Phillies, and he’s forged a 5.64 ERA over 113 1/3 innings across 102 MLB appearances. The 30-year-old will compete for a bullpen spot in the Cactus League.
  • INT Relief Pitcher #43
Yunior Marte has signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Marte signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners back in November but will head overseas in favor of a much more lucrative opportunity. The 30-year-old righty made 23 relief appearances last year for the Phillies and holds a pedestrian 5.64 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 105/54 K/BB ratio across 113 1/3 innings (102 appearances) in the big leagues since 2022. He’ll attempt to rebuild his long-term value overseas in Japan while making much more than he would’ve on a stateside minor-league deal.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #43
Mariners signed RHP Yunior Marte to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Marte, 29, joins Seattle after being outrighted by the Phillies off their roster at the conclusion of the season. The 29-year-old struggled to a 6.92 ERA in his time with Philadelphia over 23 appearances, and just adds depth to the Seattle staff at this stage of his career.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #49
Phillies sent LHP Kolby Allard, INF Rodolfo Castro and RHP’s Yunior Marte, Luis F. Ortiz and Freddy Tarnok outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
All five wound up electing free agency and will test the open market rather than accept outright assignments to remain with the Phillies. The most notable name here is Allard, who made seven appearances (four starts) last year for Philadelphia. The trio of Marte, Ortiz and Tarnok figure to be able to latch on elsewhere as extra relief depth. Castro underwent surgery back in August to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #43
Phillies optioned RHP Yunior Marte to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The Phillies needed to free up a spot on their active roster with Jose Alvarado returning from the restricted list and Marte drew the short straw this time around. The 29-year-old hurler holds a 6.92 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and a 23/15 K/BB ratio over 26 innings with the Phillies on the season.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #43
Phillies recalled RHP Yunior Marte from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Marte is beginning a fourth stint in the bullpen. He has made 22 appearances for the Phillies and amassed a 7.13 ERA this season. Even in Triple-A, his ERA stood at 5.62 in 16 innings.
