    Twins released 1B Yunior Severino.
Severino spent last year on Minnesota’s 40-man roster, but was never summoned to the big leagues. The 25-year-old first baseman has been cut loose after hitting .196 with two homers and one steals over 33 games this season for Triple-A St. Paul.
  • MIN Center Fielder #32
Twins optioned OF Emmanuel Rodriguez and RHPs Matt Canterino, Marco Raya and Travis Adams to Triple-A St. Paul; reassigned RHPs Randy Dobnak, RHP Erasmo Ramirez, RHP Cory Lewis, C Alex Isola and INF Yunior Severino to minor league camp.
The headliner here is Rodriguez, though the Twins’ top prospect was never really a candidate to break camp with the big league club — especially after missing time with an ankle injury during spring camp. Dobnak could have potentially pushed to make the Opening Day roster in a long reliever role, but he’ll begin the season as extra depth at the Triple-A level instead. Ramirez could have been an option for the bullpen, but suffered a “significant tear” in his shoulder earlier in the week.

Twins re-signed 1B Yunior Severino to a minor league contract.
Severino returns to Minnesota just a few weeks after being removed from the club’s 40-man roster. The 25-year-old first baseman has yet to make his big-league debut, but has showed some decent pop in the minors, with 21 round-trippers in 128 contests last year for Triple-A St. Paul.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #74
Twins sent RHP’s Josh Winder, Scott Blewett, Randy Dobnak and Daniel Duarte, and 1B Yunior Severino outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
It’s some procedural routine housekeeping for the Twins as they’ve jettisoned a quartet of relievers on the periphery of their 40-man roster at the outset of the offseason. There’s a strong possibility they all wind up electing free agency in search of new opportunities.
  • MIN Center Fielder #82
Twins optioned OF Austin Martin, C Jair Camargo and INF Yunior Severino to Triple-A St. Paul; Optioned OF Emmanuel Rodriguez to Double-A Wichita.
Martin, 24, is already on the cusp of the big leagues after slashing .260/.381/.398 with seven long balls, 30 RBI and 19 stolen bases across 282 plate appearances in the upper minors in 2023. He’ll begin the year at Triple-A St. Paul where he’ll bide his time until he finally gets the big league call for the first time.
  • MIN 2nd Baseman #5
Twins selected the contract of INF Yunior Severino from Triple-A St. Paul.
Severino, 24, had a breakout season in the minor leagues in 2023, slashing .272/.352/.546 with 35 homers, 84 RBI, three swipes and a 173/51 K/BB ratio across 528 plate appearances between Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul. He’s got the ability to play first base, second base and third base and could wind up seeing action in a utility role with the Twins during the 2024 season.

According to MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez, former Braves prospect Yunior Severino will sign with the Minnesota Twins.
Sanchez reports that the deal is worth $2.5 million dollars. Severino was one of the prospects who saw their contract terminated as punishment for Atlanta agreeing to illegal contracts and contact with players. The 18-year-old hit .270/.345/.420 at three different stops in the Atlanta organization in 2017.
