Angels purchased the contract of infielder Zach Sorensen from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels could have chosen Brian Specht or one of their number of quality middle infield prospects, but they decided to go boring once again. Sorensen, 28, hit .303/.372/.383 in 78 games for Salt Lake. He went 0-for-3 while spending 20 days in the majors in July.

Sorensen hasn’t done much at all offensively in Triple-A, batting .223 with a 625 OPS. The Indians think he’s ready to act a utilityman, but that’s all the 26-year-old will ever be. He’s not going to have any fantasy value.
