Zack Scott was acquitted of DWI charges on Thursday morning in White Plains City Court.
The former Mets GM was also found not guilty of a lesser charge of “driving while ability impaired” stemming from his highly-publicized arrest this past summer in White Plains, New York. “I am thankful for today’s verdict,” Scott wrote in a statement Thursday. “Nonetheless, I regret choices I made on August 31, resulting in circumstances that led to my arrest. ... Professionally, I’m grateful to Sandy Alderson for the opportunity to lead baseball operations for the Mets and wish my former teammates nothing but the best going forward.” Maybe he’ll get another opportunity to work in the sport at some point.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Mets will not retain acting general manager Zack Scott.
Scott was initially hired as assistant GM last offseason before quickly being elevated to acting GM after Jared Porter was fired. However, Scott has been on administrative leave since early September following a DWI arrest. His trial it set for next month.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Red Sox have granted the Mets permission to talk to assistant general manager Raquel Ferreira about their front office opening.
It was Martino who previously reported that the Mets wanted to interview Ferreira and also Twins assistant general manager Daniel Adler. Ferreira has been with the Red Sox since 1999 and in her current role as executive vice president and assistant GM since 2019.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Mets have requested permission to interview Twins assistant general manager Daniel Adler and Red Sox assistant GM Raquel Ferreira.
Martino says that the Mets also wanted to interview the Dodgers’ Jeff Kingston but have been told he will not leave Los Angeles. It had been thought that the Mets wanted to hire a president of baseball operations, but now it appears they could just hire a GM instead.

Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News said on Fangraphs’ Chin Music podcast that Brian Sabean is not in the running for the Mets’ front office job.
It was Thosar who first floated Sabean’s name as a possibility and said that the former Giants executive was interested in the Mets’ gig. However, he was never contacted by the team about the job and apparently was offended that he was not a candidate, pulling himself out of the running for a position for which he was not in contention.

Michael Mayer of Metsmerized reports that Giants general manager Scott Harris has told the Mets he will not leave his current job to join them.
Mayer adds that Rays executive Peter Bendix is also expected to pass on the Mets’ job. Dodgers executive Brandon Gomes also recently informed the Mets that he will not be joining their front office. The Mets have come up empty on multiple fronts to this point as they look for someone to run their baseball operations.

Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports that Brian Sabean is “the latest name to surface” as the Mets look for someone to run their baseball operations.
Thosar writes that it’s “unclear” whether Sabean has been contacted by owner Steve Cohen and president Sandy Alderson at this point but that Sabean is “apparently willing and excited to be considered” for the job. Another wrinkle in the report says that former Giants manager Bruce Bochy might consider the Mets’ manager job to work under his old boss. The two won three World Series titles together in San Francisco.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that Dodgers assistant general manager Brandon Gomes is on the Mets’ radar for a possible front office position.
Martino notes that the Mets do not plan to ask permission to interview any club’s employee while their team is still playing, so it would be a bit before Gomes interviews, if he indeed does. Athletics VP of baseball operations Billy Beane is also among the names the Mets are considering.

SNY’s Andy Martino reports that Theo Epstein “will not be” joining the Mets’ front office this winter.
Martino’s source confirms that Epstein did meet with Mets owner Steve Cohen recently and that the two “had a good conversation” but “both agreed this was not the right opportunity.” Athletics president Billy Beane is another big name that is said to be in consideration to take over baseball operations in Queens, though it’s unclear at this point how real that pursuit might be. Cohen and the Mets placed current general manager Zack Scott on administrative leave in early September after he was arrested on suspicion of DWI in White Plains, New York. Sandy Alderson is holding down GM duties for the time being.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Athletics VP of baseball operations Billy Beane is “on the Mets’ radar” to run their baseball operations.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first suggested that Beane and manager Bob Melvin could potentially be a package deal for the Mets. Mets president Sandy Alderson will remain in the team’s front office in 2022, which could actually appeal to Beane since Alderson was his mentor during their time together in Oakland.
