MOUNT MORRIS, Pennsylvania: Hunter Lawrence earned the holeshot in the High Point National, stretched his advantage, and found his rhythm early to command Moto 1.
He was challenged during the first lap by Cooper Webb, who took the lead for a few turns, but was not in serious jeopardy of losing the position for most of that lap.
Jett Lawrence had a bad start and passed under the holeshot banner 11th. He passed three riders on the first lap and collected Haiden Deegan.
On Lap 2, Jett gained three more positions and the podium was in sight. Jett moved into second on Lap 5 and faced a gap of eight seconds to the lead. Jett put down a couple of heater laps, saw that he was not gaining on Hunter, and settled into a comfortable pace.
The gap between Hunter and Jett ended at more than 16 seconds.
Jorge Prado rode as high as second and finished comfortably in third. With the Australian brothers in first and second, and Prado hailing from Spain, this moto featured an all international lineup.
Deegan followed Jett into the top five, but lost the tow of the points leader at that point. He took fourth away from Cooper Webb on Lap 4, closed the distance on Prado briefly, and then also settled for a moderate pace.
Webb faced pressure from Aaron Plessinger for most of the second half of the race. As they battle, Garrett Marchbanks snuck through and took the position.
Plessinger got Webb in the exchange and finished sixth. Webb was seventh.
