Justin Barcia will miss Round 21 of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX), Round 4 of Pro Motocross, at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, after suffering an injury last week at Thunder Valley.
According to the team, Barcia dabbed his leg during qualification in Colorado, which compressed his back. Barcia mounted up for the first moto, finishing 15th, but the pain intensified during the afternoon and he was unable to ride in Moto 2.
Barcia will spend the next two weeks focusing on recovery and rehabilitation, which means he will miss the RedBud National as well as High Point.
“Justin is one of the toughest riders in the paddock and gave everything he had in that first moto in Thunder Valley,” said Josh Wisenor, Team Manager in a news release. “Right now, the priority is allowing him the time to recover properly, and we all look forward to having him back behind the gate.”
After missing most of the Monster Energy Supercross season, Barcia currently sits 23rd in the combined SuperMotocross standings, 28 points below the cutline that insures riders a spot in all three rounds of the SMX Playoffs.
