Simone Fontecchio shot 1-of-11 from the field and 1-of-2 from the foul line in Thursday’s loss to Greece, scoring four points with five rebounds, one assist, three steals and one three-pointer.
With this EuroBasket expected to be Danilo Gallinari’s (eight points, three rebounds and one three-pointer) final major international competition, Fontecchio is expected to figure prominently in Italy’s plans this summer and moving forward. Unfortunately, the Heat forward could not find his groove offensively, missing all six of his two-point attempts. Fontecchio will look to bounce back when the Italians face Georgia on Saturday in what stands to be another physical matchup. Traded to the Heat in early July, Fontecchio will look to carve out a consistent role when training camp opens in late September.
  • MIL Power Forward #9
Bobby Portis has been ejected from Sunday’s matchup with the Pacers midway through the first quarter after a physical altercation with Andrew Nembhard.
Portis and Nembhard got into it with just over five minutes to play in the first quarter. Both players were given technical fouls, but Portis was ejected after throwing hands. He finished with four points and three rebounds across seven minutes. Already down Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Bucks will have to turn to Andre Jackson Jr., Pat Connaughton and Danilo Gallinari to pick up the slack off the bench. Gallinari could see the biggest bump in playing time for the Bucks’ depleted frontcourt.
  • MIL Power Forward #12
Danilo Gallinari is finalizing a deal to join the Bucks, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Gallo started off the season with the Wizards after being traded from Boston over the summer. Then he was traded to the Pistons in the Marvin Bagley deal, and he played in six games with Detroit. They waived him after the trade deadline, and now he’ll go ring hunting with the Bucks. He’s a solid veteran piece that may see the floor, but it is unlikely that he impacts fantasy basketball.
  • FA Power Forward #12
The Pistons will reportedly waive Danilo Gallinari on Thursday.
Gallinari was listed as “not with team” ahead on Thursday’s game, and now it is clear why. Gallo will likely look to find a new home with a contending team, but there probably isn’t a situation that gives him enough minutes to impact fantasy basketball.
  • DET Power Forward #12
Danilo Gallinari (not with team) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
After playing 11 minutes in Wednesday’s win over Sacramento, Gallinari is not with the team. Due to the many trades made by the Pistons, Monty Williams will be working with a limited roster in Portland. James Wiseman could move into the rotation as Jalen Duren’s backup, but he would not be worth streaming.
  • DET Center #41
Mike Muscala (concussion) will play against the Magic on Sunday.
Muscala is back in the lineup after a one-game absence, and he had been in the starting unit in the last game he played. Isaiah Stewart is still out, so there is a chance that he replaces Kevin Knox in the startnig lineup. However, unless you’re desperate for 3-pointers, he won’t be worth streaming.
  • DET Small Forward #24
The Pistons will start Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Bojan Bogdanovic, Kevin Knox and Jalen Duren against the Clippers on Friday.
Mike Muscala got the start in place of Isaiah Stewart in their last game, but he entered the league’s concussion protocol after suffering a head injury on Wednesday. Danilo Gallinari started the second half of that game in his place, but Knox will get the start on Friday. Gallo should still see minutes off the bench, where he may be able to provide more buckets and triples like he did on Wednesday.
  • DET Center #41
The Pistons announced on Thursday that Mike Muscala has entered the league’s concussion protocol.
Starting for Isaiah Stewart (ankle), Muscala was injured during the first half of Wednesday’s loss to the Cavaliers. Those two absences open up a spot in the starting lineup, with Danilo Gallinari and Kevin Knox II being the candidates to fill it. Gallinari started the second half of Wednesday’s game and finished with 20 points and four 3-pointers.
  • DET Center #28
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Isaiah Stewart (left ankle sprain) will be sidelined for at least 10-14 days.
Stewart injured his ankle during Sunday’s win over the Thunder and did not play in Wednesday’s loss to Cleveland. Mike Muscala replaced him in the starting lineup but exited the game with a head injury. If Muscala can’t play, Danilo Gallinari may be the next man up after scoring 20 points off the bench (he started the second half for Muscala). Kevin Knox II has also been called upon to start games this season, but he’s offered limited production in that role.
  • DET Power Forward #12
Danilo Gallinari shot 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line in Wednesday’s loss to Cleveland, accumulating 20 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 23 minutes.
With Isaiah Stewart (ankle) sidelined, Gallinari was in line for an increase in playing time on Wednesday. Spot starter Mike Muscala exiting during the first half with a head injury opened things up even more for Gallo, and the veteran forward took advantage of his opportunity. Perfect from three, Gallinari hit double figures for the first time since November 27 (vs. DET while a member of the Wizards), and the 20 points are a season-high. Detroit’s final two games of Week 15 are on busier game days (Friday and Sunday), so there may not be much to gain from streaming him if Stewart and Muscala are sidelined.
