Jevon Carter has agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Magic, reports ESPN’s Shams Charania.

An eight-year NBA veteran, Carter joined the Magic after he was waived by the Bulls in February. He averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 assists in 20.7 minutes per game with Orlando. Carter figures to reprise his role as bench depth at point guard behind Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black.

Anthony Black (core) is available to play against the Pistons on Monday.

Black was ruled out for this game at first but was upgraded to questionable earlier in the day and has now officially been cleared to suit up. He’ll likely play a limited role off the bench, which will prevent him from making much of an impact on the box score. However, it is good news for Orlando with the postseason starting next week, with this being the healthiest they’ve been in a while. Jevon Carter will likely play a smaller role with Black back.

Anthony Black (core) is now probable for Monday’s game against the Pistons.

After missing Orlando’s last 16 games with a left lateral abdominal strain, Black is on track to return on Monday. If he does play, that would mean fewer minutes for Jevon Carter. That said, managers in active fantasy leagues should anticipate Black’s minutes being limited.

Anthony Black (core) is out for Monday’s game against the Pistons.

Black has not appeared in a game since March 7, and he’s running out of opportunities to get in some game time before the postseason. Jevon Carter has played rotation minutes off the bench and should continue to do so while Orlando awaits Black’s return.

Jalen Suggs (illness) participated in Thursday’s pregame shootaround.

After missing Orlando’s last two games due to illness, Suggs was listed as questionable on the injury report for Thursday’s game against the Kings. His ability to participate in shootaround, with Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley saying that the point guard is “definitely” feeling better, is a positive sign regarding Suggs’ availability. If he can play against Sacramento, Jamal Cain is the player most likely headed to the bench. Jevon Carter, who started the first game that Suggs missed, would also lose out on streaming value with the point guard back in the lineup.

Jalen Suggs (illness) is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Kings.

Suggs has missed the last two games with an illness and is questionable for Thursday’s contest against the Kings. Jevon Carter had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes in Tuesday’s loss to the Cavaliers. With only three games on Thursday, Carter could be worth streaming if Suggs is ruled out again.

Jevon Carter provided a boost off the bench with 15 points (6-of-12 FGs), four rebounds, four assists, one steal and three three-pointers against the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Carter came off the bench after an unproductive start on Monday. Clearly, he’s better as a reserve; he has scored in double figures in five straight games while coming off the bench, but he scored just two points on Monday. He matched his season high for scoring in this game, though it wasn’t enough to help Orlando snap this losing streak. Carter may not be a reliable fantasy option, but he should continue to play extra minutes with Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black sidelined.

Desmond Bane, Tristan da Silva, Jamal Cain, Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. will start against the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Orlando is still without Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black, but instead of Jevon Carter getting the nod again, it will be Cain for this game. Cain has been a solid reserve recently, though he may not contribute much for fantasy managers, even in an increased role.

Jalen Suggs (illness) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Cavaliers.

Suggs did not play in Monday’s loss to the Pacers, with Jevon Carter replacing him in the starting lineup. Carter was ineffective, finishing with two points, three rebounds and one steal in 24 minutes. While he may get another start in Cleveland, Carter is not worth the streaming risk.

Desmond Bane recorded 17 points (7-of-15 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, seven assists and one three-pointer in Monday’s loss to the Pacers.

On a night when the Magic were without Jalen Suggs, Bane took on more playmaking responsibilities. The seven assists, which equaled his total in Orlando’s prior two games, were the most for Bane since he recorded nine in a March 8 win over the Bucks. Add in the points and rebounds, and this was a decent start to Week 22 for Bane. Jevon Carter, who replaced Suggs in the starting lineup, offered little in 24 minutes, finishing with two points (1-of-5 FGs), three rebounds and one steal.
