Anthony Black had 21 points (8-of-20 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), three rebounds, four assists, four steals, one block and one three-pointer in Saturday’s win over the Jazz.
Black struggled from behind the three-point line, going 1-of-7 from behind the arc, but was 7-of-13 otherwise and finished with 21 points in Saturday’s win over the Jazz. While the 22-year-old shooting guard could be headed back to the bench soon with Franz Wagner (ankle) close to returning, he’s delivered for fantasy managers lately. Black has provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks, according to Basketball Monster.
Desmond Bane
ORL
Guard
#3
Desmond Bane had 22 points (6-of-14 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers in Saturday’s win over the Jazz.
Bane has now scored at least 22 points in five of his last six games. The 27-year-old shooting guard has gone a little cold from behind the three point line, shooting just 25 percent from behind the arc over the last four games. Bane has provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks, according to Basketball Monster. The Magic have four games upcoming in Week 17, starting with a home date with the Bucks on Monday.
Paolo Banchero
ORL
Forward
#5
Paolo Banchero had 23 points (6-of-17 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), seven rebounds, eight assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers in the Magic’s 120-117 victory over the Jazz on Saturday.
The Magic improved to 6-0 on the season when Banchero, Desmond Bane and Anthony Black all have at least 20 points. They needed every bit of it to squeak by a Jazz team that rested its starters in the fourth quarter. Banchero was excellent, though, with 23 points, a full stat line and two three-pointers. He’s provided fifth-round per game value over the last two weeks, according to Basketball Monster. The Magic have four games in Week 17, starting with a matchup against the Bucks on Monday.
Jevon Carter
ORL
Guard
#5
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Jevon Carter has signed a deal with the Orlando Magic for the rest of the season.
Carter was waived by the Bulls on Saturday to clear space for Dario Šarić, but he’ll have a new home for the rest of the season. Carter will provide backcourt depth, but he’s not worth rostering in fantasy hoops.
Jalen Suggs
ORL
Guard
#4
Jalen Suggs tallied 15 points (6-of-9 FGs), 11 rebounds, 11 assists, three steals, four blocks and three three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Nets.
In an homage to former teammate Tyus Jones, Suggs recorded his first triple-double on Thursday. Add in the seven “stocks,” and this was an excellent night for fantasy managers who have the guard rostered. While he isn’t a prolific scorer, Suggs’ ability to fill a stat line is why he remains so valuable in category leagues. Orlando finishes its Week 16 schedule with a game against the Jazz on Saturday.
Desmond Bane
ORL
Guard
#3
Desmond Bane amassed 23 points (7-of-14 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), three rebounds, four assists, four steals and one three-pointer in Thursday’s win over the Nets.
Not only did Bane lead the way offensively for Orlando, but he and Jalen Suggs combined for seven steals. Bane has scored at least 23 points in four of his last five games, and his fantasy value has improved. He’ll look to finish the week on a high note when the Magic host the Jazz on Saturday afternoon.
Paolo Banchero
ORL
Forward
#5
Paolo Banchero finished Thursday’s win over the Nets with 22 points (8-of-13 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
After shooting 17-of-41 from the field in his three previous games, Banchero was more efficient on offense in Thursday’s win over the Nets. Add in the assists and blocks, and this was a solid night as far as his category league value is concerned. Banchero and the Magic end their Week 16 schedule on Saturday against the Jazz, which also appears to be an advantageous matchup for the forward.
Franz Wagner
ORL
Forward
#22
Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said Thursday that Franz Wagner (ankle) is “very close” to returning.
Wagner has appeared in only two games since suffering a high left ankle sprain during a December 7 game against the Knicks. Getting him back will give Orlando a much-needed boost on the playmaking front. With Wagner already out for Thursday’s game against the Nets, the next opportunity for him to play would be on Saturday against the Jazz. While Anthony Black may be the player who heads to the bench, he’s worth holding onto in 12-team leagues.
Franz Wagner
ORL
Forward
#22
Franz Wagner (ankle) is out for Thursday’s game against the Nets.
Wagner is set to miss his eighth game in a row with left high ankle sprain injury management. While there’s no clear timetable for his return, his next chance to play will come Saturday against the Jazz. Anthony Black will remain in the starting lineup until Wagner is ready to play.
Jalen Suggs
ORL
Guard
#4
Jalen Suggs had 20 points, (7-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, six assists, one steal and four three-pointers in Tuesday’s loss to the Thunder.
Suggs was the lone bright spot for the Magic as they lost by 36 points to the Thunder on Tuesday. The 24-year-old point guard was efficient with 20 points on 11 field goal attempts and shot 4-of-8 from behind the three-point line. Suggs has provided seventh-round per game value this season. The Magic will look to bounce back Thursday against the Nets.
