Murphy has scored 22 points or more in five of his last six appearances, with Friday’s win over Utah (19) being the exception. But the complete stat line is the more significant takeaway, as the Pelicans forward has been elite recently. Over the past two weeks, Murphy has provided top-5 value in 9-cat formats. Brandon Ingram’s continued absence has opened the door for him, and Murphy has taken advantage.

NOP Shooting Guard #24

Jordan Hawkins accounted for 18 points (5-of-8 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), one rebound, two steals, and three 3-pointers in 21 minutes in Monday’s win over the Jazz.

With the Pelicans on the verge of getting run out of their arena, Hawkins gave New Orleans much-needed production off the bench. The second-year guard shot 3-of-6 from the field in the second quarter, and while New Orleans trailed by 20 at the half, things could have been much worse. As for Hawkins’ fantasy value, he doesn’t offer much of a ceiling as long as the Pelicans continue to harbor ambitions of moving up the Western Conference standings. However, if something were to change, Hawkins would be worth having.
Dejounte Murray

NOP Point Guard #5

Dejounte Murray logged 44 minutes in Monday’s 123-119 overtime win over Utah, tallying 26 points (8-of-24 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), nine rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, and two 3-pointers.

Murray has been dealing with right elbow bursitis, likely a factor in his shooting 42.4% from the field over the past two weeks. However, he has still managed to provide value, racking up 11 assists and two steals during Monday’s overtime victory. Over the past two weeks, Murray has been a third-round player in 9-cat formats. New Orleans plays three more games during Week 13, starting with Milwaukee on Wednesday.
CJ McCollum

NOP Shooting Guard #3

CJ McCollum shot 18-of-31 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line in Monday’s 123-119 win over Utah, scoring 45 points with eight rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and five 3-pointers in 44 minutes.

McCollum and the Pelicans managed to dig their way out of a 25-point hole on Monday, needing overtime to beat a Jazz team they handed with relative ease on Friday. The 45 points are the most CJ has scored in a game since January 3, when he dropped a season-high 50 on the Wizards. While limited defensive production means McCollum has a relatively low fantasy ceiling, he recorded three blocked shots on Monday. The Pelicans play three more games during Week 13.

Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, Trey Murphy, Javonte Green, and Daniel Theis will start Monday’s game against Utah.

Theis will remain in the starting lineup, a decision made easy due to Yves Missi (illness) sitting. Also of note is Green’s inclusion in the lineup, as he fills the void left by Zion Williamson (illness).

Dejounte Murray (right elbow bursitis) is active for Monday’s Jazz-Pelicans game.

Murray has consistently been able to tough out his elbow injury, so there’s no reason to believe he won’t take on his usual workload on Monday. He’ll look to bounce back from a poor shooting night from the last time he faced Utah.

Zion Williamson (illness) and Yves Missi (illness) have been ruled out for Monday’s Pelicans’ Jazz game.

Two of the Pelicans’ starting three frontcourt members won’t play against the Jazz. Javonte Green and Daniel Theis will get a chance to step in as spot starters against Utah.

Yves Missi (illness) is questionable for Monday’s game against the Jazz.

Missi did not play in Friday’s win over the Jazz, with Daniel Theis replacing him in the starting lineup. Even if the rookie is available on Monday, his fantasy ceiling will be limited due to New Orleans’ need for additional spacing next to Zion Williamson. Therefore, Theis may still be worth a look in extremely deep leagues due to his perimeter shooting ability.

Dejounte Murray (right elbow bursitis) is probable for Monday’s game against the Jazz.

Murray was also probable for Friday’s win over Utah, a game in which he played 25 minutes. He should occupy his usual place in the Pelicans’ starting lineup as the point guard. Murray’s minutes on Friday were limited due to the nature of the game, which New Orleans held firm control of throughout the fourth quarter. Jose Alvarado will play more minutes if Murray is limited or cannot play.
Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson (illness) is questionable for Monday’s game against the Jazz.

Williamson has been sitting out one game of back-to-backs, but otherwise playing for the Pelicans lately. The 24-year-old power forward is listed as questionable with an illness against the Jazz. Javonte Green could be in line for another spot start if Williamson is out Monday.
