Russell Westbrook (foot) is out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.

Westbrook will miss a third consecutive game due to soreness in his right foot. With the Kings reportedly trading Dennis Schröder to the Cavaliers, Westbrook’s absence opens the door for Nique Clifford to move into the starting lineup. While he hasn’t been a consistently productive player, the rookie guard could prove valuable during the silly season.

The Kings are converting Dylan Cardwell to a standard contract.

In a three-team trade with the Cavaliers and Bulls, the Kings bid farewell to Dennis Schröder, Keon Ellis and Dario Šarić while adding De’Andre Hunter. That gave the team room to convert Cardwell, an undrafted rookie, from a two-way contract to a standard deal. While the former Auburn standout’s production has not significantly affected fantasy basketball, he’s done enough to earn consistent rotation minutes. And if the Kings can move another veteran or two before the trade deadline, Cardwell could prove valuable during the silly season.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Kings have acquired De’Andre Hunter from the Cavaliers for Dennis Schröder and Keon Ellis.

Saturday’s trade was a three-team affair, with the Bulls receiving Dario Sarić and two second-round picks. As for Hunter, a trade made last February that was meant to bolster the Cavaliers’ bench offered mixed results. After averaging 19.0 points per game in 37 appearances for the Hawks to begin the 2024-25 season, his scoring decreased by nearly five points in Cleveland. Add in the size of Hunter’s contract, and the move makes sense for the Cavaliers financially while also adding point guard depth.

Malik Monk (ankle) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.

Monk returned to the Kings’ rotation on Friday after missing two games with a sore right ankle, playing 23 minutes in a loss to the Celtics. Since Sacramento was still without Russell Westbrook, there was room in the rotation for Keon Ellis, who logged 20 minutes. If Monk and Westbrook can’t play on Sunday, Ellis’ fantasy ceiling will be raised.

Russell Westbrook (foot) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.

Westbrook has missed Sacramento’s last two games with a sore right foot. After performing well in Thursday’s loss to the 76ers, Dennis Schröder had a brutal night in Friday’s blowout loss to the Celtics. Given the matchup, Schröder would be worth streaming if Westbrook remains out.

Domantas Sabonis (knee) is not on the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.

Sabonis did not play in Friday’s loss to the Celtics, as it was Sacramento’s second game in as many nights. His return means that Maxime Raynaud, who logged 36 minutes as the spot starter, will head back to the bench. Managers who can afford to hold onto the rookie should do so, as his playing time will likely increase after the All-Star break, if not sooner.

Zach LaVine returned to the starting lineup on Friday and finished with 17 points (5-of-9 FGs), four rebounds, one assist and one three-pointer against the Celtics.

LaVine came off the bench in his return from a two-game absence on Thursday, and he returned to the starting lineup 24 hours later. He scored 17 points in both games, though he was more efficient in this one, even if the result on the scoreboard was the same. LaVine’s name will be floated around in trade rumors as the deadline approaches, but until then, he’ll remain a decent scoring option, even if he hasn’t been able to score as much as he typically does in recent weeks.
Maxime Raynaud

Maxime Raynaud started on Friday and finished with 14 points (6-of-7 FGs), 14 rebounds, one assist, one block and one three-pointer in a 112-93 loss to the Celtics.

Raynaud got the starting nod with Domantas Sabonis sidelined for the second leg of Sacramento’s back-to-back, and he took full advantage of the increased opportunity. He was able to match his career-high for rebounds and record a double-double for the first time since December. Sabonis should return to take on the Wizards on Sunday, which will push Raynaud back to the bench. However, it was good to see Raynaud be productive, especially after how rough most of his starts were in December.
Dennis Schröder

SAC Guard #17

Dennis Schröder struggled on Friday and finished with just four points (1-of-11 FGs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block against the Celtics.

Schröder started on Thursday and had arguably his best game of the season with Russell Westbrook (foot) sidelined. He started again in this one, and, to put it mildly, the results were not as good. Schröder set a season high for scoring on Thursday, but follow it up by scoring four points for the second time in his last three games. Basically, Schröder has either been really good or really bad in recent weeks; no middle ground for average production. He should start against the Wizards on Sunday if Westbrook remains out.
Maxime Raynaud

SAC Center #42

Dennis Schroder, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Precious Achiuwa and Maxime Raynaud will start against the Celtics on Friday.

LaVine returns to the starting unit after coming off the bench on Thursday, which will push Nique Clifford back to the bench. Domantas Sabonis is out on the second night of this back-to-back, which results in Raynaud making his return to the opening unit. This is likely just a one-game nod for Raynaud, but he should have some upside in an increased role.
