Justin Champagnie started again on Thursday and contributed 17 points (6-of-9 FGs), nine rebounds, one assist, three steals and three three-pointers against the Pistons.

Champagnie got another start in place of Bilal Coulibaly, who is now expected to be sidelined until mid-April at the earliest with a hamstring strain. Washington may not be set on Champagnie as a starter, but as of now, he seems like the Coulibaly replacement. He wasn’t great as a starter on Tuesday (5/8/1/1/1), but he can be productive in an increased role, which makes him worth considering as an option during “silly season” as long as he is starting. Washington will wrap up the week in Denver on Saturday.
Khris Middleton

WAS Small Forward #32

Khris Middleton turned in a solid line on Thursday with 16 points (6-of-13 FGs), seven rebounds, eight assists, one steal and one three-pointer against the Pistons.

Middleton still isn’t seeing a heavy workload, but that isn’t something that is likely to change this season. However, as he proved on Thursday, that won’t prevent him from filling up the stat sheet. He struggled against Detroit on Tuesday, but he has scored in double figures in five of his last six appearances and ranks inside the top-100 in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. It has been a disappointing season overall for Middleton, but he has provided some redemption during the fantasy playoffs.
Alexandre Sarr

WAS Center #20

Alexandre Sarr led the Wizards with 19 points (7-of-12 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, four blocks and three three-pointers in a 129-125 win over the Pistons on Thursday.

After scoring just eight points during Tuesday’s loss to Detroit, Sarr found more success on the offensive end in this game. He was also able to provide plenty of three-pointers and blocks, which is a combination that will make him dangerous in fantasy basketball for years to come. Washington is clicking at the wrong time, suddenly finding themselves with just a half-game lead over Utah for the worst record in the league. However, Sarr’s development should continue to be a priority for the Wizards for the rest of the season.
Colby Jones

WAS Shooting Guard #1

Colby Jones (Achilles) has been upgraded to available to play against the Pistons.

Jones made his return to the lineup after missing multiple games with an Achilles injury and played a whopping three minutes in a blowout loss to Detroit. Jones will be available again, but it’s unlikely that he sees a significantly larger role in the rematch.
Bilal Coulibaly

WAS Shooting Guard #0

Bilal Coulibaly (hamstring) will be out for 4-6 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury on Monday against Toronto.

The timeline puts an earliest return date at April 10, and by then, the Wizards will have just two games left on the schedule. Fantasy managers should consider Coulibaly’s 2024-25 season over. Assuming he doesn’t take the court again this season, he finishes his sophomore campaign with 12.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.1 triples across 33 minutes per game. Justin Champaignie will be the biggest beneficiary from a fantasy hoops standpoint.

WAS Shooting Guard #1

Colby Jones (Achilles) is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Pistons.

While Jones was available for Tuesday’s loss to the Pistons, he only played two minutes off the bench. His availability does not impact fantasy basketball, especially with AJ Johnson expected to see action after picking up a DNP-CD on Tuesday.
Bilal Coulibaly

WAS Shooting Guard #0

Bilal Coulibaly (hip) is out for Thursday’s game against the Pistons.

Coulibaly missed Tuesday’s game against the Pistons with a hamstring injury and has now been ruled out for Thursday’s rematch with Detroit with a hip injury. Justin Champagnie figures to see more minutes and usage with the 20-year-old shooting guard sidelined.
Carlton Carrington

WAS Point Guard #8

Bub Carrington came off the bench and contributed 15 points (6-of-11 FGs), three rebounds, three assists and three three-pointers against the Pistons on Tuesday.

Carrington returned to playing a reserve role after being back in the starting lineup for just one game. His best performances have typically come as a starter, but he was productive on Tuesday. His 15 points were tied for the most that he has had when coming off the bench. While managers will be hoping to see Carrington start more during “silly season”, it was encouraging to see him play well as a reserve in this game.
Marcus Smart

WAS Point Guard #36

Marcus Smart led the Wizards with 16 points (6-of-10 FGs), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two three-pointers in a 123-103 loss to the Pistons on Tuesday.

Smart hasn’t been able to contribute much fantasy value since arriving in Washington, but he has been a decent scoring option off the bench at times. He had his highest-scoring game as a Wizard and his highest-scoring game since December on Tuesday, though it wasn’t enough for Washington to get the win. Smart has contributed more as a locker room veteran for Washington than he has as a fantasy asset, and that likely won’t change this season. Still, it was nice to see him have some success in this game.
Richaun Holmes

WAS Power Forward #22

Richaun Holmes provided a boost off the bench with 14 points (6-of-10 FGs), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal against the Pistons on Tuesday.

Holmes’ best games came as a starter when Alexandre Sarr was hurt, but he has played well since returning to a reserve role. He ranks inside the top-75 in nine-cat leagues over the past two weeks despite playing a reserve role for four of his five games during that stretch. Holmes’ night came to an end a few minutes early after he was ejected from elbowing Ausar Thompson in the face. Holmes was being trapped and was trying to clear space, so while he may not have intentionally taken a shot at Thompson, there was enough contact to warrant an early exit.
