In 38 games with the Idaho Stampede, Allred, a 6-foot-11, 250-pound center, averaged 16.2 points on .512 shooting, 10 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 29.6 minutes. This is a bit of an ominous sign for Zydrunas Ilgauskas (back), while the Cavs let the 10-day contracts of Kaniel Dickens and Billy Thomas expire.

His contract is not guaranteed and the team already has 15 players with roster spots - not that this means anything in fantasyland.

Allred shores up their front-court while Ben Wallace battles back spasms, but he won’t have any fantasy value.

Allred, who has played just seconds this season in garbage time, previously signed a pair of 10-day contracts.

Allred is unlikely to resurface with another NBA team this season, and should have plenty of time to finish his book about “his struggles to overcome his disability [legally deaf]....and his youth in a polygamous sect in Utah.” Sounds like an interesting read.

This trims the roster to 16 players, and they’ll need to make one more cut by Monday evening.

Allred, the first deaf player in the NBA, could actually make the roster for Indy. But as long as Roy Hibbert is healthy we don’t expect him to play enough to earn fantasy consideration.
