We told you yesterday the Lakers Steve Blake was fined $25,000 for saying a few magical words to a fan. Now we’re finding out Blake cussed out the son of an influential Lakers season ticket holder, and he now regrets the entire thing.
The incident happened late in the Lakers loss to the Clippers last Friday and according to the Los Angeles Times the fan told Blake “you need to knock down those open shots.” Which got Blake to snap back.
Who said it? Lance Jackson, son of Steve Jackson, the CEO of LA Gear. A guy who has had 8 courtside Lakers seats (think for a second about what that costs) for a long, long time. The Jackson’s home in Los Angeles has a full-size replica of the court and first few rows of Staples Center — it is so detailed it’s not uncommon for teams coming to play the Lakers or Clippers to go practice there. The Miami Heat have done it.
Jackson has friends in high places, so if Blake was going to pick a time to snap at a fan, he chose… poorly.
And Blake told Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register he regrets the whole thing.
