For months, Stan Van Gundy has wanted a stretch four in Detroit. He almost traded for Donatas Motiejunas at the deadline before medical concerns killed that deal, and the Pistons have been linked to one of Van Gundy’s former Magic players, Ryan Anderson. It seems now that he’s got his guy in former Suns, Grizzlies, Bucks and Cavs big man Jon Leuer.
Leuer’s agency, Priority Sports, tweeted on Saturday afternoon that Leuer had agreed to a four-year deal with the Pistons.
We are so happy to congratulate our guy @JonLeuer30 on his new 4 year contract with the @DetroitPistons!

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein then reported that Leuer’s deal is worth $42 million over those four years.

As with most deals this summer, there’s a little bit of sticker shock at the dollar amount. But Leuer does a lot of what Van Gundy wants in a big man to play next to Andre Drummond and can stretch the floor. He had a solid year in Phoenix and will fit in well in Detroit.
