Quote of the day: Adam Silver praises Fisher, smacks Stern

“In the well over 30 bargaining sessions, I cannot remember a single incident where he raised his voice. And, just a reminder — David Stern is in the room.”

—NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver talking about union president Derek Fisher (via the New York Times).

Silver — the guy first in line for the big chair when David Stern steps down someday — has made his name this lockout as the Ed McMahon or Andy Richter of the lockout. The guy on the side making some comments, in this case variotions of the line “a system where all 30 teams can compete for a championship and turn a profit.”

But the comment here where he praises Fisher while tweaking Stern is beautiful.
