Report: NBA finalizes Phil Jackson’s fine for D’Angelo Russell comment
It seemed certain the NBA would fine Phil Jackson for saying of Ohio State freshman D’Angelo Russell, “He’s a great-looking kid. Great prospect.” See, Russell has not (yet) declared himself eligible for the draft.
Now, the verdict is in.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
The NBA has fined the New York Knicks for Phil Jackson's public comments on D'Angelo Russell, league source tells Yahoo.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 4, 2015
It’s unclear whether Jackson – who was also fined for talking about Derek Fisher while the now-Knicks coach was still under a playing contract with the Thunder – is too out of touch to know the rules or too well-paid to care about them.
