Report: NBA finalizes Phil Jackson’s fine for D’Angelo Russell comment

It seemed certain the NBA would fine Phil Jackson for saying of Ohio State freshman D’Angelo Russell, “He’s a great-looking kid. Great prospect.” See, Russell has not (yet) declared himself eligible for the draft.

But the league took its time considering the issue.

Now, the verdict is in.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

It’s unclear whether Jackson – who was also fined for talking about Derek Fisher while the now-Knicks coach was still under a playing contract with the Thunder – is too out of touch to know the rules or too well-paid to care about them.

I’m going with the former.
