Patrick Beverley is out for the season, after the Rockets determined that the torn ligaments in his wrist would require surgery.
It was initially hoped that the procedure would be one that would allow Beverley a two-month recovery time, which would theoretically have given him the opportunity to return if the Rockets had advanced deep into the postseason.
But the surgery that was required is now expected to keep him out of action much longer.
From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:After surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist on Tuesday morning, Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will require four months of recovery, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Beverley’s ligament had to be reattached, a procedure that crushed a fleeting hope before the surgery that a two-month recovery period could’ve had Beverley back for the Western Conference Finals – if the Rockets advanced that far.
Beverley will be a restricted free agent this summer, so it’ll be interesting to see how this injury affects his perceived market value.
Beverley has been a solid starter for the Rockets this season. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 30.8 minutes per contest, while playing well-above-average perimeter defense.
