The 54th overall pick in the 2025 draft, Peter spent his rookie season with the Pacers before being waived in July. Injuries to other players led to him playing 38 NBA games last season, and the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 4.5 points in 12.9 minutes per game. San Antonio has already filled all three of its two-way contract slots, likely meaning that Peter will ultimately join the franchise’s G League affiliate. After recording career-highs in points (14) and three-pointers (four) in the Pacers’ final game before the All-Star break, Peter broke those marks on Thursday. T.J. McConnell (hamstring) being out freed up a few more minutes for the second-round pick, and he took advantage of his opportunity. Eleven of Peter’s 12 shot attempts came from beyond the arc, knocking down five. Peter’s opportunities moving forward depend on the availability of Indiana’s more experienced guards, as well as rookie Kam Jones, who was limited to 14 minutes due to a lower back issue.

McConnell will get the night off, and with Andrew Nembhard (back) as well, there will be plenty of point guard minutes open for the shorthanded Pacers. Kam Jones and Taelon Peter should fill the void for this game.

Peter is good to go after initially being listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game. However, he played only six minutes in Sunday’s loss to the Warriors, and T.J. McConnell is available for the first time this season. Peter is unlikely to get the minutes needed to make an impact in fantasy basketball.
