Ouch. J.J. Redick and Von Wafer become guys to look at as pickups with this news, and Jameer Nelson is going to handle all of the playmaking duties going forward.

Wafer played more than usual with Jason Richardson out with a sprained ankle and Hedo Turkoglu suspended for one game.

Wafer can fill it up at times and the Magic are going to turn into a small, running team that might get blown out a lot. There’s not enough to grab onto to recommend an add in 12-team formats, but Wafer will be worth watching to see if he can build off this effort.

Wafer’s non-shooting shoulder is sore. He’s appeared in 22 games this year as a third-team shooting guard.

Wafer is feeling some lower-back pain and was expected to see a doctor Tuesday afternoon. The Magic will already be without starting shooting guard Jason Richardson (ankle). Look for J.J. Redick to get as many minutes as he can handle.

Wafer’s absence boosts the minutes of J.J. Redick a bit, and Wafer himself holds no real fantasy value.

We’re guessing that Wafer was a DNP-CD and we’re moving him from the injury report. If we find that he was actually injured, we’ll move him back onto the report. In another dimension, this will matter.

Turkoglu needed this game to start getting his wind back, and he’ll be entering the playoffs pretty cold in conditioning terms. None of the Magic’s key guys played tonight, so starting teammates Von Wafer scored 11 points with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 41 minutes, Chris Duhon put up five points with three assists, Earl Clark had eight points with nine rebounds, one steal, and four blocks, and Daniel Orton scored seven points with two rebounds, a steal, and two blocks.

Wafer has played in two games since the All-Star break and has no chance at fantasy value with everyone healthy.

Wafer had just two assists and a steal to his credit, and if you were wondering if he could build off his 16-point, eight-rebound, four-assist night from Friday the answer is no.
