Lions ruled out S Kerby Joseph (knee) for Week 16 against the Steelers.
Joseph will, unfortunately, miss yet another game. Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters last week that the talented safety suffered a setback at some point. Landing on injured reserve was said to be a possibility, though, the team did not place him on it last week. He totaled one pass breakup and three interceptions in just six games played this season. Lions CB Amik Robertson (hand) and S Thomas Harper (concussion) are questionable to play.
  • DET Defensive Back #21
Lions CB Amik Robertson suffered an elbow injury in the Divisional Round against the Commanders and will not return.
Lions linebacker Jack Campbell collided with Robertson while the two were making a tackle, pinning Roberterson’s arm into the ball carrier. Robertson went down in immediate pain and stayed on the field for a while before walking off with trainers. He was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. It’s yes another devastating blow to a Detroit defense that cannot catch a break with injuries this season.
  • DET Defensive Back #21
Lions and CB Amik Robertson, formerly of the Raiders, agreed to a two-year, $9.25 million contract.
Robertson was the Raiders’ fourth-round pick in 2020 and is versatile enough to play outside and in the slot. The veteran corner started a career-high 12 games last season, totaling 50 tackles, two TFLs, and two interceptions while breaking up six passes. Robertson and recently acquired corner Carlton Davis now join a Lions secondary that ranked 23rd in points allowed and 27th in passing yards allowed.
  • DET Defensive Back #21
Raiders selected Louisiana Tech CB Amik Robertson with the No. 139 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Robertson (5’8/187), a three-year starter and first-team All-American in his final year with Louisiana Tech, joined TCU’s Jeff Gladney as the only two FBS players with 15-plus passes defended in each of the last two seasons. Very small in stature, Robertson displays high-end confidence and competitiveness against much bigger receivers, most recently allowing 6.4 yards per target (albeit versus Conference USA talent) in 2019. His 14 interceptions and 48 pass breakups across 38 starts also warrant attention at the next level. Robertson’s groin procedure from January (which nixed his participation at Indy’s combine) appears to be a non-issue with front offices. Thus he projects as a feisty nickel corner for any team willing to overlook his nimble frame.
